Increase the AEP gain, access new controller functionality and extend the lifetime of the turbines
The Challenge
EnergyPro faced ongoing difficulty operating, maintaining and improving their Gamesa G52 turbines. After years of dealing with recurring faults, they set out to modernise the control system, regain full operational autonomy, and cut related downtime. The specific pain points were:
- Communication problems between control systems
- Recurring converter faults
- Electrical cabinet faults and the downtime they caused
The Solution
Nordic Wind Technology delivered and commissioned a full controller software retrofit for the site, bringing the turbines up to current industry standards with modern control, remote monitoring and full serviceability. The upgrade included:
- A new Bachmann controller replacing the obsolete Phoenix controller
- Brand-new 1 MW converter panels
- A new SCADA system providing full access to turbine data
