STUDENT COLLABORATIONS

WORK WITH US ON YOUR NEXT PROJECT

We believe innovation comes from staying curious and asking questions, which is exactly what a good student project does. That is why we open our doors, our data and our engineers to students who want to work on something real.

WHY WORK WITH NWT

Nordic Wind Technology develops and optimises wind turbine controller software. With 30+ years of controller expertise and 550+ installed solutions, we help owners across the world take full control of their turbines, we give the power back.

For you, that means a project with a live industrial context: real turbine data, real operational constraints, and colleagues who have solved these problems in the field. We are a small and agile company, so you will not be handed off to a programme coordinator. You will sit with the people doing the work.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are not looking for one particular field of study. A wind turbine is software, hardware, physics, control, data, regulation, logistics and economics at the same time, and so is our business. Whatever you are studying, there is a good chance it touches something we work with.

We collaborate with bachelor’s and master’s students on internships, semester projects, theses and shorter assignments. If you are unsure whether your field fits, ask us. We would rather have the conversation than miss a good project.

TWO WAYS TO START

Pick one of ours.

Below you will find our current project proposals, drawn from challenges we are working on right now. Look through them and see if something fits your curriculum.

Bring your own.

If you have an idea that fits your studies and touches our field, we want to hear it. Some of the most interesting work starts from a question we had not thought to ask.

YOU WILL NOT BE ON YOUR OWN

You get a team around you, not a single supervisor. Depending on your project, that means engineers and specialists from the relevant parts of the business, plus our student assistants, who are studying alongside you and know what a deadline, a supervisor and a formal report actually requires.

We also offer:

  • Regular sparring and a fixed rhythm of check-ins throughout your project
  • Access to relevant data, tools and documentation, within what our agreements allow
  • Honest, direct feedback, we do not believe in hidden agendas
  • A desk at our office, either in our NOVI office in Aalborg, or in Silkeborg, whenever you want one, and full flexibility to work from home. Studies rarely run on office hours, and we do not expect yours to. Come in when it helps the project, work remotely when it does not.
  • Good coffee while you are here

Relevant For

The Project

Software Development / Computer Science, UX & Interaction Design, and Data Science / Big Data

Digital Service Log for Wind Turbine Technicians

Nordic Wind Technology wants to build a registration tool so low-friction and intuitive, that technicians feel it’s been missing all along. You’ll research real technician workflows, design a UX for frictionless data entry, and develop a web/app solution.

READY TO GET STARTED?

Choose the project you’d like to take on and share a few details about yourself and your studies. We’ll be in touch soon to help shape it into your semester or thesis work.

TELL US WHAT YOU WANT TO WORK ON

None of the proposals above have to fit. If you have a project in mind, send it to us. We read every suggestion, and answer as fast as possible. You do not need a finished project description. A few lines about the idea is enough to start a conversation.
