Suzlon launched its S9X series turbines in 2011 and phased out production of the S97 turbines in 2018. Today, more than 2800 MW of total capacity is installed worldwide.
The S97 turbines are powered by an asynchronous induction generator with DFIG. This enables the generator to run with a high slip, operating within a limited speed range.
In combination with the Pitch system, the energy performance is optimized within a wide wind range with low loads.
Notably, the Suzlon S97 turbines are especially suitable for onsite conditions with low wind speeds since the blade profile is designed to maximize energy generation in low wind regimes.
BACHMANN SOLUTION
The NWT retrofit solution for Suzlon S97 turbines utilizes the existing Bachmann controller platform with the new NWT software without interfering with the hardware.
The NWT retrofit solution features the Service Tool to be installed in the existing service PC already installed in the turbine.
Unlike many other retrofit solutions, our software update leaves all wires, sensors, etc., untouched. Likewise, the pitch and converter system will remain as they were before the update, i.e., they will still use the commissioned GE parameter configurations.
In summary, the NWT retrofit solution for Suzlon S97 wind turbines is safe, keeping the safety chain of the turbine intact while offering owners/operators a long list of advantages.
